About Us

Organizational background

C-MAP is a Kenyan registered community based non-profit development organization, working with all people of good will in the society to address issues affecting most vulnerable communities in Homa Bay County through development and empowerment.

The organization was founded in 2010 by a group of 8 persons, who were touched by plight of many rural communities affected by poverty in Homa Bay County in Kenya.

Prior to its registration in 2013, C-MAP was operating as a youth group doing community development work. One of the initial programmes of the youth group was the Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) funded by the members themselves and whose objective was to improve the living standards of rural and urban communities. The youth group played a distinctive role in addressing the needs of the rural and urban poor through its members. The IRDP was integrated so that activities like water; health, agriculture and social development were dependent of each other as they impact on food security. The targeting of beneficiaries was through groups that were spread throughout Homa Bay County.

Currently, C-MAP is an independent development organization which has strong collaborative links with the community. We do not discriminate on basis of gender, race, age, religion or political affiliation.
